Intake hoses

Air, water, oils, fuels - all these are substances that are sucked in and transported in hose lines. The suction hoses used must be able to withstand considerable pressure differences and temperature fluctuations without losing their suction performance.

As a company with many years of experience in the field of plastics processing, Sattler stocks intake hoses for a wide range of applications in various branches of industry. In addition to fluororubber, an intake hose can be made from a wide variety of materials.

At Sattler, we design unique hoses for your next project.

Suction hoses are used in these industries

Intake hoses are used primarily in the development and production of internal combustion engines. Modern engines with their compact design require flexible routing of air, exhaust gases, oils and fuels in the tightest of spaces.

It is essential that hose lines are routed through engine areas with widely varying temperatures. High-quality elastomers are resistant to these large temperature fluctuations. In addition, they are resistant to a wide range of chemicals and solvents.

Suction hoses are mainly used in the following industries:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Plant engineering
  • engine construction
  • Automobile production
  • Commercial vehicle industry
  • Agricultural and construction machinery production

At Sattler, we would be happy to develop the right intake hose for your project as well. Therefore, get in touch with us today. An e-mail or a phone call is all it takes.

What is an intake hose?

An intake hose is an elastic component of an engine's air or fuel supply system. Depending on the engine size and intended use, the length, shape and diameter of intake hoses can vary. Various shapes and diameters are also possible via the length of the hose, so that intake hoses can be laid without difficulty even in very angled engine parts.

An intake hose is usually provided with ribs along its length, which increase the stability and elasticity of the hose. They also prevent the hose from collapsing in the event of strong negative pressure.

What do you need an intake hose for?

In the combustion chamber of an engine, the injected gasoline is ignited together with oxygen to provide the power development of the unit. The engine obtains the necessary oxygen for this purpose from the outside air, which it draws in through the air ducting system. This system consists of a series of intake hoses that evenly supply the various combustion chambers of an engine with atmospheric oxygen.

Elastomer intake hoses are used at various points in the system:

  • the actual air intake for sucking air at a convenient location,
  • the sealing of the connected components as well as
  • the continuation of the air to the air filter.
The air intake through the intake hose must take place at a suitable point in order to allow dust-free and dry air to enter the air guidance system as far as possible. The following parts of the air guidance system are usually made of metal because of the prevailing temperatures. Special intake hoses provide sealing and connection of the system parts. The intake hose, which guides the air to the air filter, is again usually made of a high-quality elastomer.

We produce suction hoses individually for you - according to your requirements

Are you looking for intake hoses for a project in mechanical engineering or engine production? At Sattler, a company with extensive experience in the manufacture and processing of plastics, we use high-quality elastomers for this purpose, which are extremely resistant to the prevailing temperature fluctuations in engines.

We use different materials for our suction hoses

An intake hose from Sattler must withstand the highest mechanical, chemical and physical requirements. That is why we use only high-quality elastomers such as silicones with and without wire reinforcement or fluororubber.

The advantages of suction hoses made of FKM (Viton) from Sattler

Fluororubber (FKM), also known as Viton, is a polymer belonging to the natural rubber family. By using different monomers, end products with very different physical and chemical properties can be synthesized.

All fluororubbers are characterized by high temperature resistance, good elasticity and chemical resistance. At the same time, Viton is easy to process and inexpensive to manufacture.

Our customer service team will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the fluoroelastomers we use. Contact us now to realize your next project with suction hoses from Sattler.

Customized intake hoses from Sattler for engine technology

Sattler manufactures your engine intake hose exactly to your specifications, just like any other vehicle intake hose. For custom-made intake hoses for engine technology, we at Sattler use only highly developed polymers that we tailor specifically to the intended use.

Air filter intake hoses

No engine can do without an air filter intake hose. Therefore, an air filter intake hose (universal) is naturally part of our range.

Intake hoses with filter basket

An intake hose with filter basket is used wherever the material being sucked in is first to be cleaned of coarse contaminants. In addition to air intake on engines and machines, such intake hoses are mainly used for water and pond pumps.

Intake hoses with check valve

A intake hose with a non-return valve has a similar area of application. Garden hoses and agricultural pumps are thus effectively protected from contamination.

Intake hoses as automotive spare parts

An intake hose for the car is one of the common spare parts. Thanks to the possible customization of our intake hoses, it is also possible for us to produce replacement hoses for vintage cars and rare models.

Are you looking for intake hoses for classic cars or models for which spare parts are no longer available? We will be happy to help you - do not hesitate to call us!
