What are rubber buffers?

Rubber buffers, vibration dampers or elastomer springs are damping elements for vibration-free mounting of machines, motors or plant components. By mounting on an elastic buffer, a mechanical decoupling of the component to be damped from the rest of the plant takes place. Examples of such units, which are best mounted vibration-free, are pumps, motors or compressors.

Elastomer springs are usually made of rubber, but can also be combined with other materials such as metal for mounting. This makes it easy to provide vibration dampers with threads, hooks or threaded rods for easy mounting.

Due to their universal applicability, there is hardly any branch of industry that does not rely on these little elastic helpers.

Rubber buffers are used in these industries

Rubber buffers can be made from a wide variety of elastomer compounds and shapes, and in almost any size imaginable. For example, damping elements can be produced that are inert to fuels and solvents.

Still other compounds provide insensitivity to acids. Alkalis and other chemicals. By selecting and using the appropriate rubber compound, rubber buffers achieve outstanding durability. Thanks to these properties, elastomer springs have become an indispensable part of the following industries:

  • Automotive industry
  • Tool manufacture
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Plant and apparatus engineering
  • Electrical engineering

Sattler has many years of knowledge and extensive expertise in the manufacture and processing of high-quality elastomers for rubber buffers. Rely on elastomer springs from Sattler for your next project and contact us today. A phone call or e-mail is all it takes!

What are rubber buffers?

Rubber buffers are elastic elements made of different elastomers. They differ in shape and size. The hardness and spring effect can be influenced by the choice of the appropriate elastomer.

Individual production allows not only buffers with a round or square cross-section to be realized. The choice of a suitable casting tool enables the production of almost any desired shape. In combination with metal plates, threaded bushings, rods or hooks, elastomer springs with different fastening options are created.

As an innovative company in the manufacture and processing of elastomers, Sattler specializes in the custom production of rubber buffers and other elastomer components. If you are looking for rubber buffers developed and produced especially for you, please do not hesitate to contact us. By e-mail or telephone, our service staff is available to answer all your questions.

What are rubber buffers needed for?

Rubber buffers are always used where aggregates, motors or other machine parts are to be mounted as vibration-free as possible and mechanically independent of surrounding plant components. The damping effect of the elastomer ensures mechanical decoupling of the component to be cushioned, thus extending its service life or making its use possible in the first place.

Damping elements can be fitted quickly and without great effort and are available in many variants and shapes. Their main field of application is in industries where different machines have to be mounted on a suspension. Examples include, above all, the automotive industry and mechanical engineering.

Our production of rubber buffers from different materials

Sattler uses various elastomers to manufacture buffer elements. Depending on the intended use, we can produce elements with a wide variety of chemical, physical and mechanical properties. For example, oil- and fuel-resistant rubber buffers for engine mounts can be produced for vehicle construction.

Installations exposed to high temperature fluctuations require elastomer springs that maintain their spring effect over a wide temperature range and do not become brittle even under the influence of severe weather.

The advantages of rubber buffers made of EPDM rubber from Sattler

EPDM rubbers (ethylene-propylene-diene rubbers) are synthetic rubbers made from ethylene, propylene and any third component. The choice of this component allows the physical and mechanical properties of the polymer to be very specifically controlled. Due to their chemical structure, ethylene-propylene-diene rubbers can be vulcanized with sulfur.

Rubber buffers made of EPDM rubber are characterized by high thermal stability and resistance to ozone and weathering. This makes rubber buffers made of EPDM suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Elastomer springs made of EPDM rubber are resistant to water and water vapor, as well as polar solvents such as alkalis and acids. For use with non-polar solvents and lubricants, we at Sattler use other highly developed rubbers.

If you have any questions about our elastomers and rubbers, the staff in the service department will be happy to provide you with advice and knowledge. The best thing to do is to contact us today.

We manufacture custom-fit rubber buffers for your needs

Rubber buffers are used in a wide variety of industries to perform specific tasks. For many of these tasks, buffers exist in proven forms and tested compounds. At Sattler, however, we also develop and produce elastomer springs for special applications. Individually manufactured for you and developed in close consultation with you.

Rubber buffers as damping elements

Rubber buffers as damping elements are usually cylindrical or cuboid shaped. For easier mounting, they often contain a threaded metal element.

Rubber buffers are helpful for stops for doors and flaps

Simple rubber buffers can be bonded so that doors and flaps can close quietly. Flat sheets of EPDM rubber are mainly used for this purpose.

Are also used as anti-slip elements

Large-area elements made of EPDM rubber are also suitable for the production of slip-resistant floor areas. In this way, plant components that are not bolted together can be set up in a stable manner.

Rubber buffers serve as protective elements

Rubber buffers can also be designed as protective caps. Spherical or cylindrical, they protect the ends of metal rods or levers.

Can also be made with a thread

Rubber buffers with thread are easier to mount due to the included metal element. Depending on the size, they are available with all standard threads.
